CAAP PROTOCOL

Hi Everyone

This treatment has got to be the longest and hardest so far. I feel absolutly wrecked still have 3 weeks to go. Took today off work , I think it is because I am taking 3 different sort of drugs ( injection, patch and tablets) at the moment ,I am still in bed by 9 everynight and cant get up in the mornings.

First scan went very well ,have another on Friday to see how my body is reacting to drugs. Then I start my puregon which will be 700mg. Not looking forward to that. But looking on positive side this might be the one to kick start everything and it might work ,please god. My hubbie makes everthing so much easier and is doing all the cooking and housework at the moment.

We would be very intrested in going to meeting ,can you tell us where and at what time please.

Thanks for everthing.

Re: CAAP PROTOCOL

Dear Noelleao,

Just wanted to share my experience with CAAP protocol. I started my first IVF cycle in May 08 and responded extremely poorly to the stimulation regime. My day 5 scan showed no follicles and day 7 scan showed 3 minute follicles which hadn't got beyone 8 mm in size by day 9.We abandoned the cycle and went for the CAAP protocol in July(we also attend SIMS clinic). My first scan showed the start of a follicle before I had started the stimulation regime. By day 10 we had 3 follicles ranging in size from 16-18mm. The retrieval only resulted in one decent quality egg which fertilised and was transferred on day 3.  Unfortunately it didn't implant which was hard to accept, however I  would go through it again given that we got better results earlier on in the process. It is a long cycle so it certainly takes over your life for the 5-6 weeks you're doing it- the thing that kills me is how unscientific the whole process is and you really feel like it's a total gamble. I got preganant after IUI using  daily 75 IU of gonal(but miscarried at 6.5 weeks) and yet only produced one decent embryo after 10 days of 600mg of Puregon-it's so hard to gauge how your body is going to react.

Hang in there and best of luck with your cycle.

Tona

Re: CAAP PROTOCOL

Hi Tona

It is great to hear from someone who has went through this procedure. Had my first scan today ,doc said everything was looking perfect ,linen was nice and thick. I am now ready to start puregon tonight 600mg, also have to keep using cetrotide, keep taking tablets .Now I have to inject Lutropin alfa and take asprin.I am like a walking pin cushion. You are right it does take over your life for the time you are doing it.Were you extremly tired and hormonal . Doc said that was side effects of tablets. Sorry to hear it didnt work for you but you sound so positive about the procedure . They have only given us 1 per cent  chance for this to work so we are trying to stay positive but it is hard. But to look on the bright side everything seems to be going well so far, have another scan on WED so will keep you informed.

Take care and thanks again

Re: CAAP PROTOCOL
Noelleao, you are great to keep us informed on how you are getting on. It sure sounds a lot more complicated than IVF so no wonder you don't know where you are half the time! But keep it up, you are doing really well from all accounts. I hope the next scan on Wed goes as well as today's. Good luck! Katherine
