Re: New to this

Hi Pauline, I agree with you. We treated ourselves to lots of treats etc. A walk on the beach or park. Then coffee and cake in nice coffe shop. Or a pint in our local (didn't do me any harm)  You have to do what ever get you through this journey we are on.

We did DE and had twins last year we are blessed. Our first cycle didn't work either. The Doctor thought it was to do with DH sperm (antibodies) Second time we used a different donor. We got same amount embryos each time. But we transfer 2 and had none to freeze. ( at the time I really thought it wouldn't work)

As for NISIG meetings they helped me sooooo much. So any words I can say to help others.

Wishing you all the luck on your next cycle.

Take care

Re: New to this

Dear Lisa

we are on the same journey as yourserlf also at the sims.. We have been attending them for a year and are now starting on the egg donation route. We started the process in December and have to wait to end march for husbands repeat bloods etc before we get to select doner and make a comitment to the program. At what stage r u at?. I would love to know how much information you get on your doners profile and how this comprares to going abroad We are going to atend the next D C Network (Donor Conception Network) meeting in London in March as well as NISIG meetings in Dublin and like you would love to talk to other couples undertaking the same journey and in particular people atending the Sims. We are also thinking of looking outside Ireland for egg donation due to costs but have been happy with treatment at sims and wonder would it be less stressful to remain in Ireland as due to our work comitments would not be able to take time off at short notice to fly abroad. It is an emotional journey but there is plenty of support out there plus some very good books specificly regarding donation

Re: New to this

Hi Maeve,

we are also attending the Sims and last year went through the donor egg route, but unfortunately were not successful, no reason why as we had two very good embryos so are now undergoing new tests to see if the male factor affected result.

regarding the donor info, we got a broad outline as to the donor's physical characteristic and education/career. we were also informed as to whether the donor had children previously. I cannot comment regarding info made available in other clinics abroad.

we have also been very happy with the Sims and like yourself would find travelling abroad for treatment more stressful and don't have the time to travel at short notice. we have looked at going the the D C Network in the UK but will give this one a miss and maybe attend the next one.

we attend the NISIG meetings in Dublin and maybe see you there.

in the mean time enjoy life, keep smiling and be nice to each other.

Re: New to this

Hi Pauline

We are attending the next nisig meeting in Dublin and if you are there would love to chat. We are off to the dc network meeting the following week and would be happy to fill every one in on what we learn and how we find it either at the meetings or on line. I will put a post on this site.  If  there is any litature etc I will bring copies home for other interested people. Thanks for filling me in about the doner profile I am sorry it didn't work out for you the first time .From reading threads on fertility friends I know this is a possibility How have you been? Your advice is very good. However I find that  some days it is easier to follow than others and have been known to rant and rave and cry (in private) at the injustice of it all followed by a large bar of chocolate..  By the way I thought that all the sims doners had children and as they put it therefore proven fertility..Once again thanks for your help

Hi Maeve,

yes we will be at next nisig meeting so hopefully will meet up then.

don't worry I have my bad days also and had a big rant on saturday but good to get it out of our system. The chocolate always make it worth while.
