auto immune issues

Hi,

Those of you from the Dublin group might remember that we were to be going to a specialist in repeated ivf failure and immune issues in England recently. We got our results back last week and have an idea of what we'll be doing next. Is there anyone else who's going down this route?  I'd love to hear from anyone else in this same boat or with experience of this.

We've been diagnosed with a number of issues, including AntiThyroid Antibodies, AntiNuclear Antibodies, elevated Natural Killer cells and I'm heterozygous MTHFR positive - what a mouthful!  Basically it comes down to having auto immune issues and also potentially a blood clotting issue, so my protocol is being expanded to include heparin and baby aspirin (to thin the blood) and steroids (to dampen down my over active immune system) and also masses of vitamins because MTHFR can cause a problem with absorbsion ... and also thyroxine because of a thyroid issue.  We're hoping to do a fresh cycle in the new year with this clinic in England which will be a bit of a headache to co-ordinate but, as ever, if it works, it'll be worth it   I'll have to be over there from Day 6 of stims until after Transfer so I suppose that's about two weeks in all.

Hope to see some of you at the next meeting in Dublin. Any discussion on AI issues here would be great though!

Re: auto immune issues

Just a quick update for my friends in the Dublin group - I missed seeing you at the last meeting!

Well, the cycle all went to plan and we are now on the dreaded 2WW.  We did a blast transfer and also had four blasts to freeze which we were delighted about.  The clinic were great and I spent a total of two weeks living in a hotel in Nottingham!  It's good to be home, even if I am starting to climb the walls...

It's impossible to know of course if it has worked but they have thrown everything at us and all we can do is hope for the best.  The doubts are creeping in, as is normal on the 2WW, but I hope that with all the meds to deal with the auto immune issues that one or both of these wee blasts will manage to implant.  I'll let you know how we get on.

That all sounds positive! We have our fingers crossed and will be thinking of you. It sounds like they were very professional. Really, really good luck.
