Dublin Meeting
Hi, Just a quick post to say hello to the people who were at the Dublin meeting at the weekend. It was lovely to meet you all and to see the support you were able to offer the rest of the group. It helps so much to leave feeling that you're not alone, after all - at least, that's always been my experience.

If this is your first time on the board, see about registering (see top right of the screen) and maybe put a post as a reply to this one, just to get you started :-)

Hope to see you all again soon,

Caitriona (not going under any particular disguise! But feel free to call yourselves whatever you fancy!)

Re: Dublin Meeting

Hi Caitriona,

Myself and my husband attended the meeting on Sat. It was our first NISIG meeting and I didn't know what to expect. I found it very useful. It was so good to be in an environment where you could admit how very, very difficult it is dealing with infertility and know that everyone in the room undertstands. Often if you speak to familiy of friends about what you are going through, they offer sympathy, but the understanding that you get from people who are also going through something similiar, or have gone through, is far more healing.

Also knowing that you aren't the only one who uses coping strategies such as avoiding social or family situations, holding babies etc.. made me feel less guilty!

I will definetly attend more meetings. Do you know if there is a date set for the next one yet?

D.

Re: Dublin Meeting
Hi D, That's great to hear that you found support at the meeting last weekend. I found it such a relief to be in the company of people who were going through a similar situation and to not feel such an oddity, as I did among my (well-meaning) friends.

The meetings are held every second month and generally on the first Saturday of the month. I believe the next meeting should be 1st May but I'll check with Adrienne to be sure. The meeting info is usually to be found on the website, under Information - Events.

Meanwhile, good luck to you and there's always support here on the boards and on the phoneline.

Re: Dublin Meeting

Myself and my partner attended the meeting in Dublin last March.  It was our first meeting and we were both terrified beforehand.  Im glad to say we need not have worried at all.  Being in a room with people who understood how you felt and voiced the feelings and fears that swirl around your head everyday was both comforting and liberating.  Everyone there was hugely supportive, very accepting and most of all respectful of each individual in the room regardless of where they were on their journey.  I found it to be the most helpful and beneficial thing we have done so far.  We definitely will be attending future meetings  :-)
