Re: HARI OR MERRION??

Thanks Angie for your reply- good luck with your appt in 2 weeks. I decided on the Hari in the end and we had our first appointment yesterday there. We're glad to have started the process- I had alot of tests, ultrasounds done before the first appt so at least I dont have to delay and do all those now- have a HSG test next month, so we'll see after that- its all been a huge education so far... and I'm sure loads more to come. Best of luck

That's great, Missy, that you've had your first appt and that the ball is now rolling. I think things always move a lot quicker once you're over that initial waiting period. Good luck now with the testing and the follow up consult to discuss a course of action.

Re: HARI OR MERRION??
Hey Angie, that is great news that your appt went well and that you are happy with your clinic - that is really important as you will be spending a fair bit of time there! Hopefully you will be set up with dates soon.

Re the cost of the cycle, you should perhaps phone to check with them, but I'd be almost certain that the cycle cost you quoted there will not include the cost of meds. However, although the meds for an IVF cycle are very expensive, they are covered under the Drugs Payment Scheme. If you don't have a DPS card, it would be a very good idea to apply right away. This card means that you only pay a maximum of €120 in any given month for medication for your household. I know €120 is still a fair bit of money but it's a drop in the ocean compared to the actual cost of the meds for a cycle. Here is a link explaining about the card and how it works and the link below that is where you can access the application form.

http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/health/entitlement_to_health_services/drugs_payment_scheme.html

http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/Find_a_Service/entitlements/Forms/Drugs_Payment_Scheme/Drugs_Payment_Scheme_Application_Form.pdf

What will probably happen is that the clinic will do you up a prescription for your meds and you'll take it to MediPh@rm (Dundrum and also George's St D2) and they fill the prescription for you - they are very experienced at handling these types of scripts. You'll give them your DPS card and they'll only charge you the €120 and then they claim the remainder of the cost back from the scheme.

Hope that helps.
