NaPro Technology V's IVF? ???

Hi All

I am 37 years old and my husband andI have been trying to conceive unsuccessfully for the past two years. All of our physical examinations so far have come back with no abnormalities. We say a consultant OBGYN this week and he has said he is referring us for IVF even though we have not been diagnosed as infertile or given any diagnosis in fact! Our difficulty is that we have since been talking to friends about NaPro Technology available in Cork, Dublin & Galway. I am curious to know if any of you have experience of NaPro and what you think about this method?

Re: NaPro Technology V's IVF? ???

Hi Jude

Hope your keeping well, I don't have personel experince of NAPRO or IVF as we went down a different road ..... Maybe give the supportline a call or if you can make it to a meeting. You would people who have first hand experience of both NAPRO and IVF.

There is a meeting taking this Friday 8th April in Cork.(not sure if that suits) Call the supportline for venue and time details.1890 647 444 Monday - Friday 7.15pm - 9.15pm

Take care

Hi Jude

You are faced with a difficult choice between NaPro and IVF. From my understanding, you need to give Napro a 2 year window/opportunity to hopefully be successful. You are faced with the fact that you are 37 now and that in two years, if Napro is unsuccessful, at 39 you may be facing into IVF, which may see your fertility lower than it is now and with less chance of success. Along with being a treatment for fertility, IVF is also a "diagnostic" because the process of undergoing it can often reveal the cause of the fertility as you pass through the treatment.
We began ivf when my wife was 36 and had four cycles until she was 40 without luck. The process revealed many biological problems along the way which pointed towards us eventually towards requiring the use of Donor Eggs. This worked for us.
If you felt you had the time to spare than Napro is much less stressful and invasive and financially more attractive than ivf. But if you felt that time was moving on, then maybe a more aggressive approach may be the best option.
Good luck either way. We got brilliant help and encouragement from NISIG meetings and I couldn't recommend attending one enough.

David.

Re: NaPro Technology V's IVF? ???
Hi jude
My husband and I did napro technology in galway and I will honest it is the biggest waste of time and money. Every time we went back they looked at our chat, told us a baby was not born out of work but out of love, that we should continue doing as we are doing and charged us € 200 or more. It is all about analysing your cycles which you can do for free on a website called fertility friend. Every time my husband and I think back on the two years we wasted with them we get so annoyed. We went for our last appointment for Napro in Feb & we told her we were thinking of trying iui or ivf. Well she tried her hardest to talk us out of it and tell us all the negatives and then she proceeded to tell us again how a baby is born out of love and not work!!! We bought just lost it and stormed out and she still charged us €200. I really do think you need time on your side for this. There maybe other people with better xperiences than. I would advice going to the Harri, Simms or Clane clinic with your husband and have a really good chat with them and see what you think. Or even go to a NApro clinic find out all the info, ask all the questions and then make a decision. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide
