Hi Baby,
Thanks for your post. We have had just one Ivf treatment. No Luck!! I'm not sure what PGD is, you'll have to explain. There seems to be more treatment options in the US for autoimmune problems.
Thanks ,
Molly
Molly, sorry, I've only just seen your post now. Absolutely, I'd be very happy to talk to you and Helen has my details so I'm sure she'll give them to you I'm sorry to see what a rough ride you have had.
PGD is pre genetic diagnosis and it isn't available here in Ireland, I don't think, but it is available in the UK and elsewhere. It's where they extract one cell from the developing embryo (I think on Day 3) and then they screen that cell for either a specific genetic condition or for a range of conditions. If the embryo cell passes the screening then the embryo in question might be transferred on Day 5. I believe that there are greater success rates and lower rates of miscarriage with PGD but there is also the risk of ending up with no embryos to transfer and I think also that there could be a risk to the embryo from the actual PGD process itself.
Hi Molly,
Sorry the BFN, I feel your pain, been there x3. Caitriona did explain the PGD testing very well... it is an option to select an embryo that might have a better chance to stick! Wish you all the luck!!! Do you have snowbeans?
B
No, I Haven't any 'snowbeans' but may go about doing this over the summer months. Am thinking about getting a consultation from the Alan Beer clinic in the US. Also going to S*ms clinic very soon. I would love to know if anyone has had a consultation in the US and if there are any clinics here in Ireland who would be happy to work with them re. drug protocol.
Take care
