hi all,
this is my first time on this site so i'm adding a new thread. i had icsi 3 years ago which resulted in a twin pregnancy. i have twin boys aged 2 and i'd love another baby. my dh isn't too keen on fertility treatment as i had ovarian hyperstimulation and found the whole treatment very painful , especially the egg collection. when i was wheeled into the room crying in a wheel chair he vowed never to let me go thru it again. i understand his feelings but lately i can't get another baby out of my head.
my dh has low motility , high antibodies, and low count and i've pco's. so i doubt we'll ever have a spontaneous pregnancy. we haven't used contraception since last sept so i think its safe to say we are still the same. my dh also had a lung disease called sarcoidosis but it is now gone. originally his first semen analysis was ok but after getting sarcoidosis he had problems , but nobody knew if it was the cause of his infertilty. he got the all clear 6 months ago. so maybe his semen might improve. has anyone else had secondary infertilty success without treatment?
also does anyone know if medical card covers any cost of icsi in cork.
Hi Babywishes,
I just want to wish you luck with that. I have heard of people conceiving naturally after having a first baby through IVF/ fertility treatment. It's very uplifting to hear some good news stories re. IVF successes. Especially for those of us who are on that road. Let us know if things work out for you.
All the best ,
Molly
Congrats on your twins and good luck with trying to talk DH round! You could perhaps think about going for a review consult at your last clinic to see what they might do differently in a new cycle, given the experience you had before and the response you showed to the meds. They could well suggest a changed protocol that would reduce the chances of you having a repeat of ohss.
But if you're not going to go the treatment route, there certainly are plenty of examples of couples who had success naturally after having their first through ivf. Perhaps the circumstances behind the initial infertility have changed - and hopefully that might be the case for you. In some cases of female factor infertility, it's thought that the body can somehow be more receptive to pregnancy after a successful pregnancy, as if the body is 're-set'. This is thought to last a certain amount of time, from what I understand. Maybe you could think of getting a semen analysis done to at least ascertain where you stand?
