Re: Another newby

Hi Daisydays

Just answer to your question regarding meetings. I was at the last donor meeting and there was about 15-20 of us. Mainly couples and one and two ladies on there own.

I suppose the hardest part is walking in the door. Everybody is friendly and understands. Usually half way through the morning we have a cuppa  It's all very easy and we just try to be there for each other. I got so much advise and support at the meetings when we were on our journey.

Hope you have a good week

Often times, both partners come along to their first meeting and then you'll see the woman returning regularly and the man coming along now and again. I don't think I've ever been to a meeting that had no men, though.

Hope to see you there :-)

Re: Another newby

I am looking to either become a donor or maybe even to carry a babye.

The price for couples to start this process is so very expensive and having read how many cycles a woman must go through is pure madness!!!

I don’t see why a woman should have to give p on her dream of been a mother because they do not have the money.

Is there anyway I can provide a egg donation without using a middle man to help cut out some of the cost?

Re: Another newby
Hi Hopeful, that is a really kind, generous and thoughtful thing to consider doing. Thank you!

You're right that it can be extremely expensive to go through this process, especially if a couple ends up needing several cycles of treatment. It's tough to have financial matters dictate whether your dreams of a family might progress or not. But to go through egg donation - or surrogacy - would definitely entail you having to attend one of the fertility clinics. You would need to undergo testing and, if you were doing a medicated cycle to produce eggs, you'd have to be monitored carefully to watch for your reaction to the medication. For this reason, I would suggest that, as a starting point, you contact one or some of the clinics in Ireland to see how you would go about becoming an egg donor / surrogate. They will be able to advise you whether you can do that with their clinics (my guess is that some clinics do this and some do not). It will depend on where you live in Ireland which clinic is most convenient to you - but you can find all the contact details on the homepage of this website
http://www.nisig.ie/

The clinics in Dublin are Sims in Dundrum, HARI (Rotunda), and Merrion (NMH Holles St). There's a clinic in Clane also, and ones in Kilkenny, Cork and Galway.

Thank you again for your generous aspiration to help a childless couple!
