Re: 3rd round of IVF

Hi Baby,

I'm so sorry to hear your news, I know it's easier said than done but try and stay positive, it will happen eventually. xx

Hi Caitriona,

Do you mind me asking if the clinic that did the tests on you is it Ireland,  it sounds really interesting.  We'd try anything at this stage and would love to know more,  I feel like we're on a conveyor belt with our Doctor, she seems to be just reading our file as we're walking in the door, each time we've been.  We're due back at the end of April so I'll definitely get that book you recommended and hopefully have some good questions to ask.

Take care girls xx

Re: 3rd round of IVF

Hi Covie, good luck with your review appt. Bear in mind that many doctors regard the auto-immune approach with scepticism and may try to convince you that it's all a big con. Personally I disagree with this and I think we'll see a lot more of it in treatment cycles in the future.

As for the where and how - I went to CARE Nottingham. CARE is a chain of clinics in the UK and they have a doctor in their Notts branch who specialises in recurrent miscarriage and repeated IVF failure, Dr George Ndukwe - he is mentioned and thanked by Dr Beer in that book I said was helpful. This is their website:

http://www.carefertility.co.uk/locations/nottingham/nottingham.shtml

Sims in Dublin do do auto immune screening but, last I heard, not the full range of tests as recommended by Dr Beer and as carried out by CARE Nottingham.

Another way of getting the testing done is by liaising directly with the clinic in the US set up by Dr Beer (who has since died) and sending your bloods to them for testing. Here's a link to that clinic:

All the best and if you have any other questionsm I'll do my best to answer

Re: 3rd round of IVF

Hi Caitriona,

thanks a million for all that info, I got Dr Beer's book and am finding it fascinating and really helpful.  Unfortunately, as you said, our Doctor didn't pay much heed to the auto-immune approach, saying there's not much evidence, blah blah blah..... She's going to test for the chomosomal abnormalies but that's about it.  I'm finding it very frustrating dealing with them, I just find it one huge money racket, and don't get me wrong, it's not about the money obviously I'd pay any amount for it to be sucessful, but I'm just don't have any faith in the clinic, they're not giving us much hope, saying "it's just one of those things.....you've been unlucky"

The only positive thing I'm finding is acupunture, the acupunturist is so optimistic and hopeful that it's rubbing off on me, I come out feeling so good and hopeful that things might work out.

Thanks again for the info it was really helpful.

Covie xx
