Hi Meave
Yes we are looking for egg donation as ive gone trough early menopause.
We chose sims mainly because its close to where we live. Yes it is expensive around 14k. But we figure what with flights accomadition ect in a forgin country it may be just as expensive. Also the sims use known doners ,Meaning that they have a proven record of fertility. We lill be able to find out all about our doners medicail history. not sure about anything else at monent as we are waiting to chose our doner.
The sims clinic is very good, once you get started it all moves very quickly.
Thanks for the references i will certintly look those books up.

Hi Lynn
I also like the fact that the doners used by the sims have proven fertility. We are about one and a half to two hours from the sims but tt is still easy to reach via M50 giving my navagiation skills this is a plus. I know that once husbands 2nd bloods are taken its about 2 to 3 months to transfer. I hadnot realized before hand that they do not stimulate you until the embroys(frozen at day 2) come back to Ireland therefore you do not have to be synorised to doners cycle and therefore more flexible. I have read on fertility friends website that this as sims state is considered to be same as a fresh cycle My issue is egg quality age related I am 42 this week but still 41 at present I tell myself ,after over response during iui had poor response to ivf and only one blastocyte for transfer I am happy with egg donation and we had thought of it early in our journey after reading article while in waiting area in sims I agree that sims are good and always get a response to any phone call. we hope to be ready to choose doner early april and though a wee bit of me thinks we should look at spain etc I most likely will use sims as We have been happy with our treatment to date Good luck with the book search the D C network is also a very good source of information. We joined them and recieved a phone call from a woman who had had a child by egg donation. They also supply you with a list of people who have went down the doner route who are happy to be contacted by phone or e mail. There site has excellant articles and a review of books related to doner issues. They are www. DC network.uk (i hope I have got that right ) Wishing you all the best and remember you are not alone.

Im 41 also ,42 in october, often wonder how did i get to this age?
You and I are living the same life, It also takes us an hour to an hour and a half on m50, although we do get lost ,but always end up in dundrum, i think our car knows the way itself. its easer to head into dublin on bus and hop on luis it takes you straight out.
Ill check out those web sites .thanks
Hi Lyn
We have also done the bus plus luas route very handy but found that sometimes we were spending hours hanging around waiting for bus home and tried to shedual appointments to keep this to a minimum but there were times when appointments over ran and I found the sprint to bus araus a bit to much so for now i will stick with the M50 and like you our car knows the way and I have become very famailar with Drumdrum shopping center. I don't know if its just me but I get a bit of comfort sitting in the waiting area at sims knowing the all the other couples there are on the same journey than us and we are not alone. I realize rationally that infertility effects 1 in 6 couples but they don't seem to live my "neigbourhood" which is surrounded by fertile friends and family. I have never joined a message board before and my only regret is that I didnot do it sooner. Infertility is so unexpected most of us grow up expecting that we will eventually become parents you imagine you will meet the right person fall in love get married and have babies if only it was that simple. Egg donation has opened a door for us that only a generation ago would have been firmly clised and for this I will always be grateful.
hi Meave
I know how you feel when sitting in waiting room, thinking," are they the same as us? They look normal ! Wonder whats wrong are they doing the same as we are????? Sometines i feel like standing up and saying "hi my name is ......... and im on the doner route what are you doing."
It is amazing what can be done Two years ago we were told that there was no chance of us ever becoming perents. And now here we lucky to be worring if doner will work for us. My mum and dad had us when they were young and like you i thought i to would do the same But life turns out different I married later in life " CANT BELIVE IM SAYING LATER IN LIFE " Though i had a great time in my twenties and thrties I never tought of having kids.
ivf-infertility.com is a very good web site loads of information.
