Good news for those with immune issues that affect fertility
Modified By Caitriona on 11/8/2009 9:36:59 AM)

Hi to everyone on this forum. I want to tell everyone my good news. My husband and I have finally got pregnant with the help of immune treatment. We are nearly 8 weeks pregnant. I am in my late thirties and I know that this pregnancy carries with it alot of risks. We will not be truly celebrating until we have our baby in our arms. Nevertheless, it was amazing to see the little heart beating when we attended the clinic for our first scan. I want to let everyone know that for people with "unexplained infertility", immune issues may well be the cause. Immune treatment is available at SIMS CLinic in DUblin, where they carry out comprehensive testing to identify immune issues. Another wonderful advantage of these new therapies is that IVF treatment may not be necessary. In my case, I requested we try a number of natural cycles before progressing on to IVF. We succeeded in getting pregnant on our very first attempt. This illustrates that IVF in our case was unnecessary and may well be for many other couples. Many of these clinics have their own agenda in recommending IVF treatment, so it is really up to individuals to be assertive enough to request immune treatment on a natural cycle. I wish everyone the best with their treatment and hope that more couples who suffer infertility as a result of immune issues will be successful too. All the best ,Molly

hi molly, thats really great news. I wish you all the best,.  What a great story and i'm sure it will offer hope to many couples.  I agree with you about some clinics being far to quick to rush people down the ivf route without getting to the bottom of reason for failing to concieve.  So many couple with unexplained infertility go through the agony of unseccessful ivf (othen numerous cycles) and only have heart ache at the end along with massive bills to pay and still get no answers from their clinic!!  Sounds like immune treatment is the way to go for anyone starting out on this painfull journey.  Congrats again and do keep us all informed!!
